Rhonda Joy Caetano
Rhonda’s passion for music began in childhood when she used to sing and dance around the house listening to the various albums her mom would play. Anything ranging from Carole King to musical theater scores like My Fair Lady or Jesus Christ Superstar. Her love of performing began early on in dance recitals, musical theater and choir. Rhonda has been actively involved in theater throughout the East Bay since 1997 performing in both musicals and straight plays. She has been a vocalist for several Bay Area cover bands with an emphasis on 80s covers and classic rock.
Rhonda is honored and grateful to have the opportunity to perform alongside such a talented and fun group of musicians. Singing alongside her partner in life, Roger Caetano is the icing on the cake! Rumor has it that Rhonda can often be found at a local watering hole on karaoke night , singing anything from The Carpenters to The Scorpions.
ROGER CAETANO
Roger is the Publisher and Owner of STROLL Ruby Hill & STROLL Round Hill Magazines. He is an avid music lover by day and night. He has loved to sing since he was 7, although his sisters and brother may not have loved it! He does a happy dance when KJs let him sneak in his rendition of Stairway To Heaven at “less crowded” karaoke bars. He met his lovely fiancé, Rhonda Joy, on stage in “Addams Family, The Musical”, when she played Morticia to his Gomez (and he insists that their love for each other actually mirrors the two. He’s pretty sure Rhonda Joy agrees). He has MUCH gratitude that he was asked to join the band, and thoroughly enjoys creating and collaborating with this incredible group of musicians and human beings.

Laura Sherman
Laura Sherman has been playing piano since the age of five. Her first piano teacher was her father, Abe Sherman, who also taught music at UC Berkeley. Her first concert she attended was Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Day on the Green. She has always had a passion for music, but was a late bloomer in getting out and performing. Now she has been playing in clubs and cafes around the Bay Area for many
years both solo and with various bands, which include jazz, rock, country, blues
and R&B. She is grateful for the opportunity to play keyboards with East Bay Grooveline, and loves the positive energy that emulates from the band. In 2019 she released her first CD entitled Earth Resonance. There are five
original songs on her CD. Laura enjoys hiking in the forest and mountains going to the beach, and is inspired by nature
Mark Clearwater
Mark Clearwater (Guitar) : Bay Area born and raised on soul, funk and rock in the 60’s and70’s. First played guitar with pencils on my mom’s classical, listened to pop hits on my home-made AM radio grounded to our garden faucet and saved up my paper route money for 45’s and LP’s. I played jugs in my first band at summer camp in 1969, and when I heard my junior high band play Grazing in the Grass I knew I wanted to play electric guitar in a groovy band — check! I’ve composed and recorded many original songs in various genres and taught my kids to do the same. I recently released my first single “Confusing” as a duet with my daughter, Lucy. You can blame me for the colored suits

Jimmy Biggles
Jimmy has been playing bass for decades. In addition to playing guitar and singing, he has played many styles of music on both electric bass and acoustic upright bass in a number of bands that covered dance, disco, rock, folk, bluegrass and spiritual music. He enjoys playing dance music in East Bay Grooveline because the band brings happiness, energy and joy to its audiences and to every gig.
Fun fact: Jimmy loves playing dance music but dances like a “dork”. The band has asked respectfully that he refrain from dancing during performances so as to not traumatize the audience. He may or may not comply.
Richard Orlanes

He’s performed with many groups ranging in style from rock, country, latin, pop and R&B. He’s fond of the fact that he was part of the “garage band era” of the sixties. Most of the bands from that period had many places to perform their music. Rich’s band had the opportunity to play at venues including, The UAW Hall in San Francisco, The Leamington Hotel in Oakland, the Roller Rink in San Leandro and Hayward’s famous Frenchy’s. Plus many clubs in the east bay stretching from Fremont to Oakland. Rich is excited and happy to be performing with East Bay Groove Line. For him every gig is fun and full of energy and he truly enjoys performing with his talented bandmates. When you attend an EBGL gig you’ll know what he’s talking about. Elton John said..”music has the healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours”. Spend a few hours with EBGL and make this happen.

My formative years in the vibrant Bay Area of the1960s and 70s immersed me in a rich musical tapestry, from Swing & Latin rhythms to Soul, Chicano Rock, Tex-Mex & powerful brass, alongside local legends. At home, Mariachi, Trios, Baladas, Salsa, & R&B further broadened my sonic horizons. This diverse landscape ignited my musical journey, leading me to the saxophone and the expressive world of percussion. The Bay Area’s unique blend of traditions forged my eclectic tastes and lifelong passion. Now, playing saxophone and percussion with EBGL feels like a natural continuation, finding immense joy in contributing my voice and rhythmic foundation to our performances. I enjoy moments where the interplay between the saxophone melodies & the percussive grooves creates an infectious energy for both us & the audience. It’s a privilege to bring to life the sounds that captivated me as a boy to echo thru my instruments

The Evolution of East Bay Grooveline
East Bay Grooveline’s journey began in 2021. Formed by Mark Clearwater & Jimmy Biggles…Rhonda Joy Caetano and her husband, Roger Caetano, were asked to join as the lead vocalists. Their shared passion for music and performance set the stage for a lifelong partnership, both on and off the stage.
As their love for live music blossomed, Rhonda honed her vocal skills by performing with various Bay Area cover bands, specializing in 80s and classic rock. This experience helped shape her versatile style, captivating audiences with powerful ballads and upbeat dance hits alike. Roger, with his keen sense of musicality and stage presence, complemented Rhonda perfectly, forming a dynamic duo that would soon become the heart of East Bay Grooveline.
With the addition of skilled artists like Laura Sherman on keyboards, Mark Clearwater on guitar, Jimmy Biggles on bass, Rich Orlanes on drums, and David Banuelos Sr. on saxophone and percussion, East Bay Grooveline was born.
Over the years, East Bay Grooveline has had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues and events throughout the Bay Area.
